Sokyryntsi Palace (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Sokyryntsi Palace is an outstanding example of Empire-style architecture in Ukraine, constructed between 1823 and 1829 for the noble Galagan family. Designed by architect Andrey Melensky, the main building is characterized by its white facade, a monumental eight-column portico, and a prominent dome. The estate features 60 ornate rooms that once housed significant art collections and an extensive library. Surrounding the palace is a 427-hectare landscape park designed by gardener Wilhelm Gottlieb Armstrow, containing numerous ponds and Neoclassical pavilions. Historically, the palace served as a major cultural hub where figures like Taras Shevchenko stayed, and the famous kobzar Ostap Veresay lived under the Galagans' patronage. Today, the building functions as an educational institution and a monument of national importance, with much of its original internal layout preserved.
