The Khojapil Dinosaur Plateau, located 30 km northeast of Balkanabat, Turkmenistan, is a significant paleontological site featuring over 1,000 dinosaur footprints from the Jurassic period, approximately 150 million years old. Preserved in limestone, the tracks belong to theropods, sauropods, and other species. Discovered in the 1980s, the plateau spans several hectares and features insights into Central Asian dinosaur biodiversity. The prints are visible but vulnerable to erosion. The site has been protected since 2016, with restricted access. The surrounding landscape is arid and hilly. Researchers estimate the tracks represent at least 20 individuals. Guided tours are available through local museums, emphasizing scientific education.
