Škocjan Caves (Slovenia)

Weather…

The Škocjan Caves are a unique limestone cave system in the Karst region, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986. They are most famous for their immense underground canyon, carved by the Reka River, which flows through the depths of the cave. Standing on the Cerkvenik Bridge, suspended 47 meters above the roaring river in total darkness, is a sweeping experience. The system contains the Martel Chamber, one of the largest underground halls in the world. The tour leads through silent sections filled with stalactites and concludes with a dramatic view of the massive collapse dolines at the surface entrance.
