Piran Town Hall (Slovenia)

Weather…

Piran Town Hall occupies a prominent position on the eastern side of the world-renowned Tartini Square, showcasing elegant Neo-Renaissance architecture. Constructed between 1877 and 1879, it replaced an earlier 13th-century Gothic municipal building that was demolished to allow for urban modernization. The building was designed by architect Giuseppe Moso, who adorned the facade with sophisticated columns, decorative reliefs, and a grand central balcony. Above the main portal, the winged Lion of Saint Mark remains a visible reminder of Piran's long historical association with the Republic of Venice. Inside, the Council Chamber is celebrated for its elaborate wall paintings and opulent decor, echoing the maritime wealth of the city during the 19th century. As an integral component of the Tartini Square architectural ensemble, the Town Hall is a key landmark for visitors. It serves as both a functional administrative hub and a cultural monument to the city’s rich Mediterranean history.
