Strážky Manor (Slovakia)

Weather…

Strážky Manor, located in the Spišská Belá district, is one of the most significant Renaissance architectural monuments in the Spiš region. Built in the 16th century on the site of an earlier water castle, it features a distinctive square layout with corner bastions and ornamental attics characteristic of the Upper Hungarian Renaissance. For centuries, it served as the residence of the Horváth-Stansith family, who established a famous Latin school here, and later the Mednyánszky family. The manor is deeply associated with the celebrated painter Ladislav Mednyánszky, whose Impressionist and Symbolist works are prominently displayed in a permanent exhibition of the Slovak National Gallery within the house. Visitors can also explore an extensive historical library and authentic period interiors. The manor is surrounded by a beautiful English landscape park and is situated near a Gothic church and a 16th-century bell tower, forming a cohesive cultural ensemble.
