Bardejov Town Hall (Slovakia)

Weather…

The Old Town Hall of Bardejov is regarded as one of Slovakia's most precious architectural landmarks, representing the earliest transition from Gothic to Renaissance style in the region. Built between 1505 and 1509 in the center of the town's rectangular square, it was the first building in present-day Slovakia to feature Renaissance elements, particularly in its stone window frames and gables. The exterior is decorated with numerous stone figures on the corners and cornices, including a depiction of the legendary knight Roland. Its high gables and steep roof give the building a monumental presence that contrasts with the surrounding burgher houses. Since 1903, it has served as a museum, housing the Šariš Museum's extensive collections on municipal history and sacral art. The town hall is the crown jewel of Bardejov's historical core, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 due to its remarkably preserved medieval layout.
