Bardejov, located in the pretty foothills of the Beskids in northeastern Slovakia, is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and rightfully holds a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The heart of the city is its enchanting, cobblestone town square, dominated by impeccably restored Gothic and Baroque burgher houses and the magnificent Basilica of St. Giles, an architectural masterpiece featuring eleven priceless Gothic winged altars. Beyond its unparalleled historic center, Bardejov is also renowned for its historic spa, Bardejovské Kúpele, whose healing mineral springs once attracted royal figures such as Empress Sisi of Austria. The city thus perfectly blends its rich Gothic heritage with a centuries-old spa tradition.
