Weather…

The Holy Trinity Column in Banská Štiavnica is one of the most significant Baroque monuments in Central Europe, located in the town's main square. It was constructed between 1759 and 1764 to commemorate the end of the devastating plague epidemic that occurred between 1710 and 1711. The monument was created based on the designs of the Italian sculptor Dionysius Stanetti and is characterized by its monumental scale and rich sculptural decoration. The base features statues of seven patron saints, including St. Sebastian and St. Roch, who were invoked against the plague. At the summit stands the sculptural group of the Holy Trinity and the Coronation of the Virgin Mary. Since 1993, the column has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage site as an integral element of Banská Štiavnica's historic center. It remains a powerful symbol of the town's past economic prosperity driven by mining.
