Dubnica nad Váhom, located in northwestern Slovakia, is a town with a strong industrial heritage, particularly in mechanical engineering. For decades, it was the center of the Czechoslovak arms industry, which significantly shaped its development. Today, the local economy is diversifying, but the industrial atmosphere is still palpable. The town is strategically located in the Váh river valley, making it an important transport hub. The D1 motorway provides a fast connection to the cities of Trenčín and Žilina, as well as further to Bratislava. Despite its industrial character, Dubnica possesses significant historical attractions. The most prominent is the Dubnica Manor (Kaštieľ), a beautiful 17th-century Baroque building surrounded by a large park that now serves as a city park, inviting for walks. Another important sight is the Roman Catholic Church of St. James. For nature lovers, the nearby Strážov Mountains (Strážovské vrchy) offer excellent opportunities for hiking and cycling.
