Svätý Anton Manor House (Slovakia)

Weather…

The Svätý Anton Manor House, also known as Antol Castle, is a magnificent Baroque-Classical masterpiece located near Banská Štiavnica. Completed in 1744 by the Koháry family on the site of an earlier fortification, it later became the residence of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The manor is famous for its intricate calendrical symbolism: it features 4 wings (the seasons), 7 entrances (days of the week), 12 chimneys (months of the year), 52 rooms (weeks), and originally 365 windows (days). The interiors remain remarkably well-preserved, with the Golden Salon being the most famous room, featuring furniture gifted by Maria Theresa to her daughter Marie Antoinette. Today, the manor houses an extensive museum of art, history, and hunting. The hunting exhibition is one of the largest in Slovakia, displaying rare trophies, historical weapons, and forestry exhibits. The manor is surrounded by a vast English-style park with artificial grottos, bridges, and exotic tree species.
