Pancevo Oil Refinery (Serbia)

Weather…

The Pančevo Oil Refinery is the largest and most modern facility of its kind in Serbia, playing a central role in the country's energy independence. Located on the outskirts of Pančevo, about 15 kilometers northeast of Belgrade on the banks of the Danube, it allows for the transport of crude oil via waterway. The refinery was commissioned in 1968 and has been modernized several times over the decades, especially after the severe destruction caused by NATO airstrikes in 1999. Since the acquisition of NIS (Naftna Industrija Srbije) by the Russian group Gazprom Neft in 2009, billions have been invested in modernization, including the construction of an MHC/DHT complex for the production of Euro 5 fuels. The facility has an annual processing capacity of approximately 4.8 million tons of crude oil and supplies the entire Serbian market as well as parts of neighboring regions. In addition to fuel production, the site includes extensive storage facilities and a direct connection to the national pipeline network. The refinery is also one of the largest employers in the Banat region.
