Bogdanci Wind Park (North Macedonia)

Weather…

The Bogdanci Wind Park is the first facility of its kind in North Macedonia, marking a significant milestone in the country's utilization of renewable energy sources. It is situated on the Ranavec hills, approximately 4 kilometers east of the town of Bogdanci. The first phase of the project was completed in 2014 and consists of 16 wind turbines manufactured by Siemens, with a total installed capacity of 36.8 megawatts. Each tower stands 80 meters tall, and the rotors have a diameter of 93 meters, making them prominent landmarks in the landscape. The location was selected due to the consistent and strong winds blowing from the Vardar Valley towards the Aegean Sea. Annually, the park generates about 100 gigawatt-hours of electricity, enough to supply around 15,000 households with clean energy. The project was realized with support from the German KfW bank and contributes substantially to the reduction of the country's CO2 emissions. A second expansion phase is planned to further increase the park's capacity, supporting the national energy strategy for decarbonization.
