Port of Tolagnaro (Madagascar)

Weather…

The Port of Tolagnaro (Ehoala Port) is Madagascar's most modern deep-water facility, situated at the southeastern tip of the island. Completed in 2009, it was primarily constructed to facilitate the export of ilmenite from the nearby QMM (Rio Tinto) mining project. The port has a water depth of 15 meters, making it accessible to large bulk carriers and cruise ships that are unable to call at other Malagasy ports. Ehoala is a flagship project for public-private partnerships and is managed by a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group. Beyond mining operations, the port drives regional development in the Anosy region by accelerating the import of essential foodstuffs and fuel. The infrastructure features state-of-the-art terminals for containers and dry bulk, alongside an industrial free zone designed to attract foreign investment. Its strategic position along Indian Ocean shipping routes positions the port to become a significant logistics hub for regional trade.
