Port Ehoala (Madagascar)

Weather…

Port Ehoala is a modern deep-water port located near Fort-Dauphin (Tolagnaro) at the southeastern tip of Madagascar. Inaugurated in 2009, it was primarily constructed to facilitate the export of ilmenite from the nearby QMM mine. The project is a notable example of a public-private partnership between the Malagasy government and the mining giant Rio Tinto. The port features a water depth of up to 15 meters, making it accessible to large cargo vessels and even international cruise ships. Beyond its industrial function, Ehoala serves as a regional commercial hub, reducing the southern region's isolation and creating new economic opportunities for the Anosy Region. Its infrastructure includes state-of-the-art terminals and storage areas operated under international security standards. Its position on the Indian Ocean also makes it a strategic stopover for maritime traffic in Southern Africa.
