Pučkoriai Exposure (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Pučkoriai Exposure (Pučkorių atodanga) is the highest and most dramatic geological natural monument of its kind in Lithuania, located right on the edge of the capital city, Vilnius, within the Pavilniai Regional Park. This massive, almost perfectly vertical cliff face rises an impressive 65 meters above the photogenic valley of the Vilnia River and stretches across a width of 260 meters. The outcrop is of significant global interest to geologists, as it clearly exposes the sediment layers of the last 20,000 years, which were heavily folded and compressed by powerful advancing ice age glaciers. Visitors can gaze deep down into the lush green river valley from a well-maintained observation deck built safely on the upper edge. Below, a popular hiking trail meanders right alongside the river, offering the best perspective to truly grasp the sheer scale of the cliff wall. The nearby historic ruins of an ancient cannon foundry complete the landscape experience.
