Juozapinė Ridge (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Juozapinė Ridge is part of the Medininkai Highlands in southeastern Lithuania and contains some of the country's highest elevations. For a long time, Juozapinė Hill (292.7 m) was officially regarded as the highest point in Lithuania, until more precise measurements identified the nearby Aukštojas Hill (293.84 m) as the actual summit. The ridge is a geomorphological formation created by ancient moraine deposits from the penultimate ice age, characterized by gentle, expansive hills. The landscape here is significantly older and more eroded than the regions in northern Lithuania shaped by the last ice age. The area features a mix of farmland, pastures, and small woodlands, offering a quiet, rural atmosphere. Nearby stands the historic Medininkai Castle, highlighting the strategic importance of this highland throughout Lithuanian history. Today, the ridge is a key destination for hikers and those wishing to visit the geographical center of Lithuania's highest summits.
