Medininkai Highland (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Medininkai Highland in southeastern Lithuania represents the oldest and most geologically stable part of the entire Lithuanian relief. In sharp contrast to the rest of the country, which was heavily reshaped by the last ice age, this specific highland largely escaped the massive transformative forces of the most recent glaciers, thereby preserving an older, underlying moraine structure. It is the geographic home to Lithuania's highest topographical elevations, including the highest peak, Aukštojas (293.8 m), as well as Juozapinė and Kruopinė, all of which exceed the 290-meter mark. The landscape here is characteristically open and expansive, defined by fertile agricultural fields interspersed with small, scattered woodlands. Extending right to the border with Belarus, the highland's elevated position frequently provides sweeping, uninterrupted views of the lower surrounding regions.
