Christ's Resurrection Church (Lithuania)

Weather…

Christ's Resurrection Church in Kaunas is a monumental modernist structure widely regarded as a symbol of Lithuanian independence and national rebirth. Construction of the church began in 1932, when Kaunas served as the provisional capital of Lithuania, based on the designs of architect Karolis Reisonas. Work progressed steadily but was abruptly halted by World War II and the subsequent Soviet occupation. During the Soviet era, the unfinished religious building was confiscated and cynically converted into a radio factory; the main tower was shortened, and the nave was divided into production halls. It was only after Lithuania regained its independence in 1990 that the church was returned to the Catholic community and finally consecrated in 2004 in its originally planned form. Today, the church, with its 70-meter-tall tower, gives not only a spiritual space but also a rooftop terrace accessible to visitors, providing unparalleled panoramic views across all of Kaunas.
