Jezzine Waterfall (Lebanon)

Weather…

The Jezzine Waterfall, locally referred to as Shalouf, is one of the most prominent natural landmarks in Southern Lebanon. Plunging from a height of approximately 74 meters, the water cascades over a sheer limestone cliff located right on the edge of the town of Jezzine. The waterfall is at its most powerful during the spring months, fueled by the melting snow from the surrounding Lebanon Mountains, creating a dramatic spray visible from afar. During the height of summer, the flow may diminish to a trickle, yet the massive rock face remains an imposing sight. Jezzine is often called the 'City of Falls' because this natural feature dominates the local landscape and is visible from almost everywhere in the municipality. The area surrounding the falls is famous for its dense pine forests, which provide a cool retreat and numerous opportunities for hiking and nature walks. Cafes and viewpoints perched along the cliffside offer sweeping vistas over the Awwali Valley, stretching all the way toward the Mediterranean coast on clear days.
