Babanovac is the tourist heart of the Vlašić plateau, situated at an altitude of about 1260 meters. The resort gained fame for its ski jump, which formerly hosted international competitions. Today, Vlašić is one of Bosnia's most popular ski destinations, particularly suited for beginners and families. In summer, the plateau transforms into a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, and paragliders enjoying the rolling grassy hills and fresh mountain air. A unique feature of the region is Vlašić cheese (Vlašićki sir), a sheep cheese ripened in brine. You can visit local shepherds in their mountain huts (katuni) and taste the cheese directly on-site. The highest peak, Opaljenik (1943 m), has wide views across Central Bosnia in clear weather. The tourist infrastructure in Babanovac is well-developed, with numerous hotels, holiday homes, and restaurants serving traditional Bosnian cuisine. Access is usually through the town of Travnik, located just 28 kilometers away. Vlašić is not only a sports venue but also a place of tradition, where the breeding of Tornjak shepherd dogs has a long history.
