Lake Vyhanoishchanskoye (Belarus)

Weather…

Lake Vyhanoishchanskoye, a mysterious and deeply isolated shallow water body in the Brest Region, is one of the largest lakes in southern Belarus, covering approximately 26 square kilometers. It is notable for its highly exceptional geographical location directly squarely on the watershed dividing the drainage basins of the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. The lake is set right in the middle of a vast and extremely dense swamp and forest complex that massively restricts human access, allowing the surrounding natural environment to fully retain its wild, primeval character. With a mere average depth of 1.2 meters, the water warms up quickly during the summer, promoting the explosive growth of aquatic vegetation and massive, sprawling reed belts. These largely impenetrable thickets and mires serve as a globally significant sanctuary for ornithological rarities; the majestic White-tailed Eagle, the Black Stork, and countless waterfowl species nest here, transforming the area into an absolute paradise for dedicated birdwatchers.
