Mount Kapudzhukh (also known as Kaputjugh) is the highest peak of the Zangezur Mountains, reaching 3,905 meters and situated on the border between Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Armenia. The mountain is an impressive massif composed of granite and other igneous rocks, shaped by deep glacial valleys and sharp ridges. Its slopes host small glaciers and perennial snowfields that remain even through the summer months. The region around Kapudzhukh is known for its extreme climatic conditions and sparse but botanically significant alpine flora. Historically, the Zangezur range served as both a formidable barrier and a passage for trade routes between Iran and the Caucasus. The local wildlife includes rare species such as the Bezoar ibex and the Caucasian snowcock. Due to its remote location and sensitive border status, the mountain remains largely undeveloped for tourism, preserving its pristine natural state. It marks the southernmost major high-altitude point in Azerbaijan.
