Bruck an der Leitha is a town in Lower Austria and the capital of the district of the same name. It lies on the Leitha River, which historically formed the border between Austria and Hungary for a long time. The geographical location in the Bruck Gate, a depression between the Alps and the Carpathians, ensures a strategically important position on the main transport routes to the east. Historically, Bruck was mentioned in documents as early as 1074 and was often the scene of armed conflicts due to its border location. A significant architectural monument is Prugg Castle, which is owned by the Harrach family and is surrounded by an extensive English landscape garden. The old town of Bruck impresses with its well-preserved townhouses and remains of the old city wall. Economically, the city has developed into a center for renewable energies in recent decades, particularly through large-scale wind farms that shape the landscape of the region. In addition, Bruck is home to important industrial plants such as a large sugar factory and food processing facilities. Through its connection to the A4 East Motorway and the East Railway, the city is an important transport hub between Vienna and Budapest. Demographically, the city has recorded moderate growth due to its attractive location between the metropolitan areas of Vienna and Bratislava.
