The highest peak, Mount Gogi, rises to an elevation of 3,120 meters. Getting there
The Vayk Mountain Range is typically reached via the M2 highway which connects Yerevan to the southern regions. Most hiking trails into the mountains begin from the town of Vayk or smaller nearby villages like Zaritap or Martiros.
Best season
The best time for visiting is from late May to early October when the high-altitude trails are clear of snow. During winter, the region experiences heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures, making most paths impassable for casual visitors.
Terrain & paths
The terrain is characterized by rugged, rocky slopes and steep inclines in a high-altitude semi-desert environment. There is very little natural shade, and the paths can be quite dusty and challenging due to the constant elevation changes.
