Merlo
Villa de Merlo is a mountain resort town situated at the western base of the Comechingones mountain range. It is nationally recognized for having one of the world's most stable and highly oxygenated microclimates, characterized by a lack of wind and a high concentration of negative ions, making it a popular destination for health and wellness tourism. The rugged terrain surrounding the town has transformed Merlo into a major hub for adventure sports. The steep slopes of the Comechingones provide convenient launch sites for paragliding, while the deep ravines offer numerous trails for hiking and zip-lining. A notable natural landmark nearby is the Algarrobo Abuelo, a giant carob tree estimated to be over 1,200 years old. The local gastronomy is centered around the "chivito" (roast goat), often slow-cooked over a wood fire. Due to its exceptionally mild weather, Merlo receives visitors year-round. It is easily accessed via paved highways from the provincial capital of San Luis or neighboring Córdoba.
