Mount Dajti (Albania)

Weather…

Mount Dajti is the most prominent natural landmark located just east of the Albanian capital, Tirana, and serves as the centerpiece of Dajti National Park. Standing at an elevation of 1,613 meters, it gives expansive panoramic views of the city and, on clear days, the Adriatic Sea. The mountain is primarily composed of limestone and features diverse vegetation zones, ranging from oak forests at lower levels to ancient beech forests near the summit. Since 2005, the "Dajti Ekspres" cable car, the longest in the Balkans, has connected the city directly to the mountain plateau. Historically, the mountain provided a strategic vantage point and refuge during various conflicts. Today, it is the primary recreational area for Tirana’s residents, offering numerous hiking trails, rock climbing sites, and paragliding opportunities. The national park was significantly expanded in 2006 to cover over 29,000 hectares.
