Preza Castle is a well-preserved fortress located on a hill northwest of Tirana, occupying a strategic position overlooking the Tirana plain and the road to Durrës. The current structure mostly dates from the 15th century and was built by the Topia noble family, who were among the closest allies of the national hero Skanderbeg. The castle has a pentagonal plan with four towers at its corners and was a key link in the signaling system used to coordinate defense against Ottoman attacks. Inside the fortress, there is a small mosque from the Ottoman era and a distinctive clock tower added in the 19th century. Due to its photogenic location and well-preserved walls, the castle is now a popular destination for tourists and locals, offering views of the Adriatic Sea and Mother Teresa Airport.
