Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)

Weather…

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site globally renowned for its critical role in conserving mountain gorillas. The 331-square-kilometre park is home to almost half of the world's population of these endangered great apes. Its 'Impenetrable' name is derived from the dense, extensive blanket of tropical rainforest that covers steep slopes and deep valleys. This ancient ecosystem, having survived the last Ice Age, features exceptional biodiversity, including over 160 species of trees and more than 100 species of ferns. The primary attraction is gorilla trekking, where visitors undertake guided hikes to meet one of the 19 habituated gorilla families in their natural environment. Beyond gorillas, the park also supports other primates like chimpanzees and colobus monkeys, 120 mammal species, and around 350 bird species, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
