Elavagnon lies in the eastern part of the Plateaux Region, set in a gently rolling landscape characterised by dense forests and extensive farmland. The town belongs to Est-Mono Prefecture and is located about 220 kilometres north of Lomé. The fertile lateritic soils support cocoa, coffee, maize, cassava and plantains, making Elavagnon an important local marketplace for the surrounding villages. Cashew cultivation has become particularly significant in recent decades. Culturally the region is shaped by the Akposso people, whose traditional drum music and harvest festivals are central to community life. Lying off the main transport corridors, Elavagnon retains a tranquil atmosphere. Nearby attractions include small waterfalls and the remains of former plantations dating back to the German colonial era, where visitors can still see weathered stone walls and processing structures.
