Water temperature…
Milvignes is located on the northern shore of Lake Neuchâtel in the Canton of Neuchâtel and was created on January 1, 2013, through the merger of the three formerly independent municipalities of Auvernier, Bôle, and Colombier. The name of the municipality is derived from the numerous vineyards (Vignes) that significantly shape the landscape and the local economy. The region is known for its high-quality wines, especially Neuchâtel Blanc and Oeil-de-Perdrix. Geographically, Milvignes extends from the lakeshore up to the first slopes of the Jura mountains. An architectural highlight is Colombier Castle, a monumental fortress that today serves as military barracks, but whose origins date back to Roman times. Auvernier, on the other hand, impresses with its intact village center and prehistoric pile dwellings, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Bôle is situated slightly higher and gives spectacular views across the lake to the Alps. The municipality is excellently integrated into the regional transport network, both via the A5 motorway and the Lausanne-Neuchâtel railway line. Milvignes' economy is based on viticulture as well as a mix of small businesses, services, and its proximity to the economic center of the city of Neuchâtel. Cultural life is enriched by wine festivals and local markets, which preserve the identity of the three merged villages.
