La Chaux-du-Milieu is a municipality in the district of Le Locle in the Canton of Neuchâtel and is located on a high plateau of the Jura at an altitude of approximately 1080 meters. The village image is characterized by the vast areas of the Vallée de la Brévine, which is often referred to as the "Siberia of Switzerland" because extremely low temperatures are measured there in winter. Historically, the municipality was strongly influenced by agriculture and watchmaking in homework, with many farms constructed to provide space for small workshops. The architecture of the region shows the typical Jura farmhouses with their characteristic low-slung roofs. Geographically, the place is surrounded by extensive fir forests and high moors, which house a unique flora and fauna. Today, the peace and seclusion make the place a destination for gentle tourism, especially for cross-country skiing in winter and hiking in summer. The municipality preserves its cultural roots through local festivals and the maintenance of traditional craftsmanship. Economically, the region remains closely linked to the industry in the nearby towns of Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds, while agriculture continues to be a main pillar.
