Peseux is a formerly independent municipality in the canton of Neuchâtel, which has been part of the city of Neuchâtel since January 2021. The town is located west of the city center on a terrace above Lake Neuchâtel, offering extensive views of the Alpine chain. Historically, Peseux was strongly influenced by viticulture, which has a long tradition on the sunny slopes of the region. During the 20th century, the area developed into a preferred residential zone, leading to a close structural integration with the neighboring city. The Castle of Peseux, whose current structure dates predominantly from the 16th century, is a significant historical monument and a witness to regional noble history. The economy of the region is closely linked to precision mechanics and the watchmaking industry, with Peseux functioning primarily as a site for supplier companies. Despite the merger, Peseux has preserved an independent village character in its core, while modern infrastructure has been fully integrated into the urban network of Neuchâtel.
