Mojstrana is deeply rooted in Slovenian mountaineering tradition, situated at the confluence of the Triglavska Bistrica and Sava Dolinka rivers. As the main gateway to the Vrata Valley, it provides the most direct access to the formidable North Face of Mount Triglav (2,864m). The town hosts the Slovenian Alpine Museum, an award-winning cultural institution that details the history of mountain climbing and the cultural significance of the Alps to Slovenians. A short journey into the valley reveals the Peričnik Waterfall, a unique twin-fall system where hikers can walk behind the lower curtain of water. In winter, the village gives a small ski slope and the Mlačca Gorge, which becomes a hub for ice climbing. Mojstrana maintains a tranquil, authentic atmosphere compared to busier resorts like Kranjska Gora. It is an excellent base for cycling, as it sits on a major long-distance cycling path connecting Slovenia with Italy and Austria.
