Hruštín is a pleasant municipality in the Orava region of northern Slovakia, located between the Oravská Magura and Beskid mountain ranges. The settlement was founded in 1588 based on Wallachian law and has preserved its traditional folk character to this day. Hruštín is known for its well-preserved rural architecture and the cultivation of old crafts, particularly woodcarving and livestock breeding. An architectural highlight is the late neoclassical Church of St. John the Baptist from the 19th century, which serves as the village's spiritual center. In recent decades, Hruštín has developed into a significant hub for winter tourism, notably through the SKI Zábava resort, which features modern slopes and traditional-style accommodations. The surrounding pristine nature also invites extensive hiking and mushroom picking during the summer months. With about 3,000 inhabitants, Hruštín is a lively community that proudly blends its rich history with a modern tourism infrastructure.
