The Valjevo Mountains are located in western Serbia, around the city of Valjevo. They encompass the mountains Povlen, Maljen, and Suvobor, reaching heights of up to 1,347 meters. The region is known for its dense beech and fir forests, clear streams, and karst formations. Historically, the area was the site of the Battle of Kolubara during World War I. Today, it is a popular destination for hikers, mountain bikers, and climbers. The Valjevo Mountains host rare animal species such as the brown bear and the lynx. The many caves, like the Petnica Cave, are important for speleological research. Local cuisine features traditional dishes like kajmak and pršuta. The region is also known for its orchards and plum brandy production.
