Maljen Mountain

The Maljen Mountain in western Serbia is world-famous primarily for the Divčibare mountain plateau, situated at an average elevation of 980 meters. The highest peak of the massif is Kraljev Sto at 1104 meters. Maljen is characterized by gentle topography with extensive meadows and coniferous forests, making it a good destination for families and hikers. The mountain's special location allows Mediterranean and continental air masses to meet, creating a therapeutic microclimate. Since the early 20th century, Divčibare has been valued as a climatic health resort, particularly for treating respiratory conditions. Geologically, Maljen consists of diabase and limestone, resulting in an interesting mix of dry karst areas and water-rich valleys. In winter, the mountain features several ski slopes, while in summer, the abundance of wildflowers, especially daffodils, attracts botanists and nature lovers.
