Sokobanja is set in Eastern Serbia in the valley of the Moravica River, surrounded by the Ozren, Devica, and Rtanj mountains. It is one of the oldest spa centers in the region, with its thermal springs used by Romans and later by the Ottomans, a legacy preserved in the historic 15th-century Turkish Bath (Amam) still in use today. The town is famous for its exceptionally high concentration of ozone and negative ions, making it a natural sanatorium for respiratory issues. The surroundings are well-suited for active tourists, featuring the ruins of the medieval fortress Sokograd and the scenic Lepterija park. The Ripaljka waterfall, one of the tallest in Serbia, is a highlight for nature lovers. For water sports and relaxation, the nearby Bovan Lake is a popular spot during the warm summer months. Sokobanja is often praised for its clean air, lush parks, and traditional hospitality. Located about 60 km from Niš and 230 km from Belgrade, it is easily accessible by car or bus. The best time to visit is from May to September to fully enjoy the hiking trails and outdoor thermal pools. Visitors should not miss the opportunity to try 'Rtanj tea', made from unique herbs found only on the nearby pyramid-shaped Rtanj Mountain.
