Sapucai

Sapucai is a place that feels frozen in time, set among the easy on the eye hills of the Paraguarí Department. The town gained prominence at the end of the 19th century when the central workshops of the Paraguayan railway were established here. The highlight is the 'Villa Inglesa,' a neighborhood of Victorian-style houses once built for British engineers, which still exudes a unique historical charm. The Sapucai Railway Museum is for history and technology enthusiasts. Visitors can tour the massive workshops where steam locomotives were maintained, with much of the original machinery and tools still intact.
