Guarambaré is a city rich in tradition in the Central Department of Paraguay, founded in 1538. It is widely renowned for its sugar industry, as it hosts two of the country's largest sugarcane processing mills. A unique cultural tradition is the 'Vito,' held on September 8th in honor of the Virgin Mary, where money is thrown from the church bell tower to the crowds below. The city is also famous as the birthplace of the renowned Paraguayan poet and musician Emiliano R. Fernández, giving it significant cultural prestige.
