The town is most famous for being the point where the Black Drin river flows out of the lake, characterizing the urban landscape with its iconic bridges. Historically mentioned under the name Enchalon, the site has been a significant settlement area since antiquity. Struga enjoys international renown as the 'City of Poetry,' hosting the annual Struga Poetry Evenings since 1961, which is one of the oldest literary festivals in the world.
