The mountain consists of metamorphic rocks rich in ores, especially lead and zinc. The region is sparsely populated with small villages preserving traditional lifestyles. Vegetation includes oak and beech forests, while higher elevations are grassland. Wildlife includes roe deer, wild boar, and foxes. The mountain is known for thermal springs, such as in Podmol village. Historically, the area was used for mining, with mines active until the 20th century. Today, the economy is based on agriculture, mainly sheep farming and tobacco growing. Jablanica is a popular hiking destination for those seeking pristine nature.
