💡 Tips
- The Paleochristian mosaics are located on the hill; if the site appears closed, ask a local to find the caretaker with the key.
- Parking inside the village is extremely limited; leave your car near the main road before walking down.
- Sunset views are spectacular from the very tip of the peninsula.
- Wander the narrow, vine-shaded alleys without a map-the village is tiny and every path leads to the water.

Lin is a quiet find on the Albanian shores of Lake Ohrid, located about 22 kilometers north of Pogradec. The village sits beautifully on a small, rocky peninsula jutting out into the deep blue waters. Its traditional architecture, featuring narrow lanes and houses draped in grapevines, gives the village a timeless and tranquil atmosphere. Lin is believed to be one of the region's oldest continuously inhabited sites. The cultural crown jewel of Lin is the ruins of a 6th-century Early Christian basilica perched on the hill above the houses. Here, visitors can admire remarkably preserved floor mosaics depicting intricate floral patterns, geometric shapes, and birds. The hilltop also features a striking panoramic vista of the entire Lake Ohrid, stretching all the way to the North Macedonian coastline. Dining in Lin is a delight, particularly for tasting the famous Koran fish, an endemic trout species unique to Lake Ohrid. The village is first-rate for a quiet day trip or an overnight stay in a waterfront guesthouse. The best time to visit is from late spring to summer, when the lake is warm enough for swimming and the gardens are in full bloom. A sunset walk along the shoreline is a truly unforgettable experience.
