Tipova Waterfalls (Moldova)

Weather…

The Tipova Waterfalls are located within the Tipova landscape reserve on the right bank of the Dniester River in the Rezina District. They are formed by the Tipova stream as it cuts through a deep limestone gorge, creating several distinct cascades. The tallest waterfall drops from a height of approximately 16 meters into a natural rocky basin. The surrounding area is historically significant as it hosts one of the largest Orthodox cave monasteries in Eastern Europe, with origins dating back to the 11th century. Geologically, the region is characterized by Sarmatian limestone layers containing fossils from millions of years ago. The gorge's specific microclimate supports rare flora and provides a habitat for numerous protected bird species. Today, Tipova is a primary destination for ecotourism and spiritual retreats in Moldova, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and ancient cultural heritage.
