Minagish Field

The Minagish Field is located in western Kuwait and is renowned for its high-quality light crude oil sourced from deep limestone reservoirs. Discovered in 1959, it marked a significant expansion of Kuwaiti oil production into the western part of the country. Unlike the southern sandstone fields, the reservoir at Minagish primarily consists of oolitic limestone within the Minagish formation, requiring specialized extraction techniques. The field produces a lighter grade of crude oil with relatively low sulfur content, which is highly valued on the global market. To maintain reservoir pressure and maximize recovery rates, extensive water injection projects have been implemented at the site. Managed by the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the facility includes its own Gathering Centers and gas processing stations. A key focus of development at Minagish has been the reduction of gas flaring to lower the environmental impact of operations. Through continuous infrastructure investment, the field remains a stable pillar of Kuwait's energy exports. Minagish highlights the country's geological diversity and the industry's ability to successfully manage varied reservoir types.
