Dubăsari is a city on the left bank of the Dniester River in the Transnistria region, widely recognized for its vital energy infrastructure. The city is located in a scenic area dominated by the Dubăsari Hydroelectric Power Plant, constructed between 1951 and 1954. The dam's creation resulted in a large reservoir that today serves not only for power generation but also as a significant site for recreation and environmental conservation. First mentioned in historical records in 1792, Dubăsari developed into an important regional administrative center during the 19th century. In 1992, the city became a major flashpoint during the Transnistria War due to its strategic bridge and hydroelectric facilities. Today, the local economy is driven by the energy sector, agriculture, and viticulture, benefiting from the fertile lands of the river valley. The surrounding area is characterized by dramatic limestone cliffs along the Dniester, adding a unique natural character to the landscape. It serves as the administrative center for the Dubăsari district under Transnistrian control.
