Chisinau City Hall (Moldova)

Weather…

The Chișinău City Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in the Moldovan capital and a prime example of architecture from the turn of the 20th century. Completed in 1901, the building was designed by architects Mitrofan Elladi and Alexander Bernardazzi. It features a striking blend of Italian Gothic and Renaissance styles, clearly visible in the ornate facade details and its prominent clock tower. Originally built to house the City Duma, the hall has witnessed numerous historical events, including significant damage during the Second World War, after which it was meticulously reconstructed under the supervision of Robert Kurtz. Its warm ochre facade and decorative window arches make it a favorite subject for photography in the heart of the city. Today, it remains the seat of the municipal government, symbolizing the historical continuity and civic pride of Chișinău. Its central location on the main boulevard makes it an essential landmark for both residents and visitors.
