Getting there
The Răut Canyon is typically accessed from the cultural complex of Orheiul Vechi, located along regional roads. The main trails start near the villages of Trebujeni and Butuceni within the valley.
Best season
The most rewarding time to visit is from April to October when the valley's flora is lively. Summer can be hot, making early morning or late afternoon walks highly recommended to avoid the midday sun.
Terrain & paths
Trails wind through steep limestone meanders and follow alongside the rocky riverbed. The paths can be uneven and rocky with moderate elevation gains as they ascend to viewing platforms above the gorge.
What to bring
Good trekking shoes with reliable traction are strongly advised for the rocky and sometimes slippery limestone paths. Carry plenty of water, a sun hat, and a camera for the spectacular valley panoramas.
Parking
Dedicated tourist parking is available near the entrance of the Orheiul Vechi complex or within the village of Butuceni. These spots can fill quickly on weekends, so arriving early is usually beneficial.
