Reaching the inland lake involves walking towards the center of the island from the coastal settlement. The footpaths leading through the dense interior vegetation are generally informal but relatively easy to follow.

The dry season, stretching from December to April, is usually the best time to hike inland. During these months, the surrounding dirt trails are less muddy, making the walk to the water much more comfortable.
