Švenčionėliai is a railway town in eastern Lithuania surrounded by dense forests, deeply rooted in the Aukštaitija region and the Labanoras National Park. Its development began in 1862 when a crucial station was built here for the new Saint Petersburg, Warsaw railway line. Toward the end of the 19th century, the town's importance as a transportation hub was further solidified by the construction of a narrow-gauge railway. Today, Švenčionėliai, intersected by the crystal-clear Žeimena River, is a tranquil haven for nature and history lovers. The surrounding, almost endless pine forests of the Labanoras Woods offer untouched nature, making the town of just under 5,000 residents a popular starting point for hiking and canoeing expeditions.
