Established in 1966, it features over 140 authentic buildings transported from all over Lithuania, including farmsteads, mills, and a complete small-town center with a church and workshops. Visitors can experience the regional architectural differences of Aukštaitija, Dzūkija, Suvalkija, and Žemaitija firsthand. During the summer, craftsmen bring the workshops to life, and numerous folklore festivals celebrate traditional Lithuanian songs and dances. The vast territory can be explored on foot, by bike, or even by horse-drawn carriage. The local inn serves traditional dishes like cepelinai (potato dumplings) in a historical setting. Rumšiškės is easily accessible as a day trip from either Kaunas or Vilnius. The best time to visit is from May to September, when all exhibitions are open and the landscape is in full bloom.
